Foal successfully rescued from canal by Dublin Fire Brigade and volunteers

A foal was rescued from the Grand Canal by Dublin Fire Brigade and volunteers today.

Members of the My Lovely Horse rescue and firefighters attended the scene near Kylemore Road this afternoon following calls that the young horse was in the water. Dublin Fire Brigade wrote on Twitter that the foal was "unable to climb out of the canal unaided." They also shared a photo of the foal in the canal and afterwards wrapped in a blanket once it had been rescued. https://twitter.com/DubFireBrigade/status/1040249796995567616 This comes just three days after another horse was spotted in the Grand Canal near Bluebell. The animal had also been unable to get out of the water unaided and was eventually rescued by Dublin Fire Brigade and members of the DSPCA. https://twitter.com/DubFireBrigade/status/1039117077053931520 My Lovely Horse later said that they had reported five loose horses along the canal to Gardaí. "This area is a hotspot for illegal fly grazing on council and private land and we’ve dealt with numerous welfare incidents here," they wrote on Twitter.
