Four Dead After School Shooting In Western Canada

'Every parent's worse nightmare'

Four people have been killed and several have been injured following a shooting at a school in Canada. 

The shootings occurred in the western Canadian province of Saskatchewan, in the La Loche Community School at 13:00 local time (19:00 Irish time).

BBC News are reporting that local police detained the suspect within 45 minutes.

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau said the incident at the school was “every parent’s worst nightmare.”

While the Premier of Saskatchewan Brad Wall released this statement:

“Words cannot express my shock and sorrow at the horrific events today in La Loche. My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims, their families and friends and all the people of the community.

Thank you to the RCMP and all the emergency personnel who responded quickly to the shootings. Saskatchewan Education and Social Services will be available to provide all necessary crisis support and counselling services to the school and the community.”
