Four people have died after a car crash near Mullingar in Co Westmeath.
According to RTÉ News, the collision involving a car and a jeep happened just north of Mullingar on the main N4 Dublin to Sligo road around 7.30am this morning.
It is understood three women and a 10-year-old girl, who were all travelling in the same vehicle, were killed in the crash. The male driver of the jeep was taken to hospital but his injuries are not described as life-threatening.
The road is currently closed and emergency services are at the scene. Anyone who was travelling on the road around the time of the accident and may have seen something has been asked to contact gardaí.
