Better bundle up out there.

A fresh status orange weather warning has been issued for ten counties as parts of Ireland saw snow hit overnight.

Meanwhile, a status yellow weather warning has been issued for the entire country.

The status orange snow-ice weather warning, originally issued on Saturday night, was extended until 6pm on Sunday after some overnight snowfall in the east of the country.

The caution was originally in place for Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath and Waterford until noon on Sunday. It has since been extended until 6pm.

Met Éireann have forecast scattered heavy snow showers will continue during the morning and will lead to accumulations in places and some drifting.

Meanwhile, a status yellow snow-ice warning is in place for the whole country until 9am on Monday morning.

It will be staying cold all day on Sunday and overnight, with wind chill and icy patches.

Temperatures will reach lows of -3C in some parts of the country overnight.

There will be further snow showers during today but some areas will remain dry, especially across the west and northwest.

Things are going to turn slightly warmer as the week goes on, according to Met Éireann.

Monday will be largely dry, apart from some scattered wintry showers in the early hours.

And while it will still be chilly, there will be an improvement in overall temperatures, reaching max highs of 5C.

There will be a very frosty start to Tuesday, but otherwise it will be a bright and dry day.

Highest temperatures will be around 6C to 8C degrees but the breeze will be very light.

The temperatures will begin to improve on Wednesday as the winds turn to a southwesterly direction, hitting as high as 10C in the afternoon.

There will be some patchy rain along northwestern counties but the bulk of the country will remain dry.
