Further weather warnings have been issued ahead of Storm Brian

The weather is set to take a turn for the worse later today.

Yesterday, Met Éireann shared a number of weather warnings confirming that 'Storm Brian' would impact Ireland over the coming days. Further updates have been shared today, relating to wind and rain, affecting different parts of the country. The first is an orange warning, a step up from yellow, asking people to be prepared for serious weather conditions, and it relates to the coasts of Mayo, Galway, Clare, Kerry, Cork, Waterford and Wexford. This is in place from 3 am tomorrow morning until 6 pm tomorrow night and speeds of 65-80 km/h with gusts 110-130 km/h have been predicted.

A second wind warning, status yellow, refers to the whole country, and it is valid from 3 am tomorrow morning until 10 pm tomorrow night. A rainfall warning, also status yellow, has been shared and it relates to Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford with accumulations of 30 to 50mm rain expected. This one is in place all day today until 9 pm tomorrow night. The national forecaster's predicition for tomorrow's weather is as follows but this is subject to change.

Tomorrow the centre of the storm Brian will track into the Irish Sea with moderate winds for a time over Ulster and North Leinster but extremely windy elsewhere with storm force west to northwest winds along southwest coasts - especially during the morning. Widespread heavy showers may merge into longer spells of rain with the risk of thundery downpours. Top temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.
