Consumers are advised not to eat them.

Galaxy and Maltesers products have been recalled due to the possible presence of salmonella.

Mars Ireland originally issued the recall for the batches in June of last year.

According to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), the two palettes were put on hold under an Irish distributor to be destroyed.

However, the 42g Galaxy smooth milk bars and the Maltesers fun size bags were mistakenly placed on the market instead.

The FSAI said:

“Consumption of product from the implicated batches could cause salmonellosis. Symptoms can include diarrhoea, stomach cramps, vomiting and fever. There are no reports of illness.”

They have advised wholesalers, retailers, and manufacturers to remove the batches from sale and clearly advise customers not to consume them.

Similarly, customers are being asked not to eat the batches and if they already have consumed the products in question, to seek medical advice if they begin to feel unwell.

The batches in question are:

720B1SLO00, best before 13.05.2018 (Galaxy)
720A1SLO00, best before 13.05.2018 (Maltesers)
