A house was significantly damaged in the early hours of Monday morning.

Gardaí in Co. Louth are appealing for witnesses following an arson incident earlier this week.

Officers attended the scene of a house fire in the Rockfield Manor area of Dundalk at approximately 1:55am on Monday morning.

Local fire services extinguished the fire, and while there were no injuries reported, the house was very badly damaged.

According to Gardaí, crime officers preserved the scene in order for a technical examination to take place. No arrests were made.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who might have witnessed the incident, or anyone with further information to come forward.

They are particularly appealing to anyone who was in the area of Hoey’s Lane between 1am and 2am, or anyone who was in Mill Lane between 1:50am and 3am and observed a silver saloon car.

Additionally, any drivers who may have dash cam footage and were travelling in those areas at those times are asked to come forward.

Anyone with information relating to the incident can call Dundalk Garda station on 042 938 8400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
