Gardaí in Dublin have launched an investigation into the alleged rape of a 26-year-old woman at an army barracks in Dublin.
While no arrests have been made, the woman claims she met two soldiers, aged 30 and 31, in a Rathmines pub, where they drank together. She then accompanied them to Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin 6 in the early hours of Wednesday, April 12.
According to the Irish Independent, the Gardaí were called at 3am after the woman, who is not a member of the Defence Forces, was allegedly attacked by one of the men in a communal area of the barracks.
“Gardaí at Rathmines are investigating an alleged assault on a female which allegedly occurred at Cathal Brugha Barracks at approximately 2am on April 12,” a Garda spokesman told the newspaper.
The military police are helping An Garda Síochána with the investigation.
