Investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí are currently investigating after a bus was allegedly attacked in Cork city on Sunday.

The incident involved a 207A Bus Eireann to Glenthorn and saw one of the windows being smashed.

Gardai confirmed: “Gardaí attended the scene of an incident on Glen Avenue in Cork this evening, Sunday 5th June 2022, shortly after 7pm.

“The window of a bus was damaged during the incident.”

According to Cork Beo, no injuries have been reported and Gardaí say “investigations are ongoing.”

Taking to Facebook, Cork City Councillor John Maher shared pictures of the bus, showing the damaged window.

Cllr Maher wrote on Sunday evening: “Shocking carry on #GlenAvenue – bus attacked just now.

“Gardai called and on route.

“No excuse and no need for this.

“Bus drivers and ordinary public deserve better.”

Speaking to Cork Beo on Monday, Cllr Maher said, “Gardai are investigating the incident, so I can’t comment on what happened.

“All I can say is the Gardai don’t take thing like this lightly.

“And it wasn’t the bus driver’s fault.”
