Gardaí removed Vera  Twomey from her sit-down protest at Leinster House last night.

She had obstructed TDs from leaving Leinster House late yesterday evening by sitting in front of the gates there, reports Newstalk.

The mum of four from Aghabullogue in Cork is campaigning for access to medicinal cannabis for her young daughter.

She had said she would protest there until Health Minister Simon Harris agreed to meet her, but was moved shortly after 8pm yesterday evening.

Vera has been campaigning for access to medicinal cannabis for her seven year-old daughter Ava who has a rare form of epilepsy known as Dravet’s syndrome.

The condition means the little girl often suffers multiple severe seizures a day.

Vera walked to Leinster House from her home in Cork in March to raise her case with the Health Minister.
