Gardaí seize two cars linked to Ashling Murphy death as they question new suspect

Gardaí have seized two cars linked to the new suspect in the Ashling Murphy case after the man was identified by officials on Friday. They are hoping to question the man from today and he is currently in a Dublin hospital where a Garda presence has been since last night. The man is being treated for "self-inflicted" injuries and checked into the hospital on Thursday. Officers are under the belief that the man was given a lift from Tullamore to Dublin on Wednesday, the same day Ashling was murdered. They then understand him to have stayed with family in south Dublin that evening and was brought to hospital the following day. Gardaí have since seized two vehicles linked to him, one in Tullamore and the other in Dublin which will be forensically examined in the next few days. A source told The Mirror: “There has been a hive of activity in relation to the investigation as gardai wait to question the new suspect and there has been huge progression since this murder on Wednesday.” According to the publication, a house was searched outside Tullamore on Friday and Saturday and remained sealed off last night, with the house in Dublin he is believed to have stayed also being searched. Gardaí also believe that DNA from this suspect is crucial as they now have taken evidence from the distinctive Falcon Storm bike that was discovered near the murder scene. The Garda Water Unit has also been continuing its search on the canal where Ashling's body was discovered. Ashling's funeral is set to take place on Tuesday at 11am St. Brigid's Church, Mountbolus, with the family requesting that their home be strictly private and family flowers only.
