Gardaí shut down a house party with over 50 people in Co Waterford this week.

The incident occurred at Templar’s Hall, a student accommodation area, leading into the early hours of Thursday morning.

Gardaí on patrol spotted the group at approximately 1am and were forced to break up the party.

The Mirror reports that the event is now under investigation for breaches of Covid-19 restrictions. A file is currently being prepared for the DPP.

“Gardaí were on patrol in the Templar’s Hall area of Waterford when they observed a gathering at approximately 1am, this morning 12 November 2020 at a residence,” said a Garda spokesperson.

“A large group of people were dispersed from the scene by Gardaí.

“This incident will now be investigated for potential breach of Covid regulations and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.”

Ireland is in the middle of its second total lockdown, with all household gatherings banned and no travel outside of a 5km radius permitted.

These restrictions are expected to be lifted in early December.
