An awful lot of attention has lately been on the EuroMillions jackpot – which now stands at an eye-watering €175m.
But for those with more modest lotto-winning aspirations, the Irish offering has always been particularly appealing in recent weeks.
Indeed, on Wednesday the main prize stood at an incredible €7.18m… and now it has emerged that one very lucky individual or individuals has scooped the lot.

The winning numbers are: 9, 26, 27, 29, 31, 47 with a bonus number of 30. The winning ticket was sold online on lottery.ie.
Another 20 people matched five numbers – meaning they are right now €1,700 richer.
Congratulations!
And recently, a Dublin man told how he found out that he had won €500,000 after checking some old lottery tickets. The winning Quick Pick ticket was bought on January 26 in Dunnes Stores in Portmarnock, Co Dublin.
And the lucky winner explained:
“I would regularly buy my EuroMillions and Lotto tickets but I’m very guilty of never checking them. I came across a bundle of tickets on Thursday evening so I sat down to check them on the lottery website.
“I hadn’t a clue what was going on so I popped down to the local shop to check the ticket and I got the same message. I knew then that I had to have won a significant prize but I just didn’t expect it to be a half a million euro.”
