Get out that raincoat! It’s going to absolutely lash tonight

Olivia Hayes

Heading out after work?

Well, you better have an umbrella or a raincoat with you.

According to Met Éireann, there’s going to be plenty of rain tonight, which isn’t such great news if you left the house this morning with only a light jacket on.

The weather forecaster says: “Outbreaks of rain will arrive on the west coast this evening, spreading eastwards later. Highest temperatures 14 to 18 degrees in mostly light westerly breezes.”

And as for tonight: “Cloudy, misty weather in all areas overnight, with persistent rain becoming widespread over the southern half of the country and heavy over parts of Munster, with a risk of spot flooding there. Some hill and coastal fog also. Lowest temperatures 10 to 12 degrees.”

Flooding! Persistent rain! No!

And as for tomorrow? Well, that’s not looking too good either.

“A cloudy, misty start to Saturday, with outbreaks of rain, heavy in southern parts of Munster and Leinster. A clearance will develop over Ulster and much of Connacht in the morning.

“It will extend only slowly southwards, so that the rain is likely to persist over south Munster and parts of Leinster until evening. Highest temperatures 15 to 17 degrees. Fresh southwest winds in southern coastal counties, but winds light elsewhere.”

We thought it was going to be sunny!
