Grand stretch in the evening alert: Here’s what the weather has in store this week

Conor Heneghan

That glorious weather we had over the weekend was never going to last, was it?

It’s not going away just yet, however, with Met Éireann predicting another dry and bright day on Monday, with temperatures reaching highs of 17 degrees in places.

That looks set to be about the height of it as far as the good weather is concerned, with showers expected in parts of south Munster on Monday evening on what will be a very chilly night, with temperatures dropping to as low as 2 degrees.

Tuesday is set to be mild but cloudy overall, with heavy showers and the prospect of thunder in the afternoon and evening ahead of another cold night on Tuesday night.

The rest of week is expected to be “pleasantly mild and humid” with a mixture of sunny spells and scattered outbreaks of rain, before becoming a little bit fresher on Friday and into the weekend.

And, of course, with the clocks having gone forward at the weekend, there’ll be plenty of grand stretches in the evenings.

Because we’re sure you haven’t heard that said since Saturday night.
