Happy days.

Great to hear…

The U.S. Embassy has announced that an additional 2,600 J1 Summer Work and Travel (SWT) slots for 2017 have been allocated by the U.S. Department of State for use in Ireland.

This brings the total number of work and travel slots to 7,000, in line with the numbers in 2015.

The pre-placement policy introduced in 2016 requires all prospective J-1 participants, including those from Ireland, to provide evidence of a pre-arranged job in the United States.

This must be done as part of the application before travelling to the US.

Last year, the J1 agreement that allows Irish graduates to travel and work in the United States for twelve months was extended for three years.

In order to be eligible for the 12 month graduate visa a student must have a degree for an Irish third-level institution and begin their visa within a year of their graduation date.
