Group Of UCC Students Stuck In Brussels Appeal For Help

"We are willing to travel to another airport if it means we get home safe tomorrow."

A group of UCC students stranded in Brussels are appealing for help to get home safely.

The Belgian capital is in complete shock after a number of explosions in Zaventem Airport and the Maalbeek Metro Stationearlier this morning.

As a result, all flights to Brussels have been cancelled and flights currently en route to Belgium have been diverted.

A group of UCC students have appealed for help on the Aer Lingus page, in a post that has been shared almost 3K times at the time of writing.

The post, from Kate Creedon, reads:

Hello, we are a group of 30 students from UCC in cork who are stuck in Brussels at the moment. We are originally meant to be flying out of Brussels airport at 17.10 on Thursday the 24th but we are extremely worried and concerned for our own Saftey. Our college department are doing everything they can to try get us home as early as possible but we have been making no progress. We are willing to travel to another airport if it means we get home safe tomorrow. I would really appreciate if you could give me any information at all on the best way for us to get out of here or any alternative ways to get us back to Ireland as soon as possible. Thanks
