The Hail Mary has been voted ‘Ireland’s favourite prayer’ at the Ploughing Championships

It’s a banger, in fairness.

The Hail Mary has been voted Ireland’s favourite prayer at the National Ploughing Championships.

The prayer emerged victorious at the Co Carlow event today, beating other popular prayers such as Our Father – and even The Rosary.

RTE News reports that the competition to find Ireland’s favourite prayer was held by the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin at stand 399.

It boasted the theme: Digging Deeper – Rooting For Christ.

Bishop Denis Nulty of Kildare and Leighlin tallied the final important vote as 61 percent in favour of The Hail Mary.

It was followed closely by O Angel of God (the Guardian Angel Prayer), which received 39 percent of the vote, and the Our Father.

Bishop Nulty said he wasn’t expecting The Hail Mary to triumph at the Ploughing.

“But then out of nowhere, Mary came through, so there’s definitely something about Mary,” he said.

Indeed, Bishop.

Indeed.

This comes after Love Island 2019 winner Greg O’Shea made an appearance at the Ploughing to promote the drinking of milk.

He and Marty Morrissey banded together to down some creamer the other day, while also discussing the importance of staying off dating apps.

Fair.
