The New York Times has reported the news.

The New York Times has reported that Harvey Weinstein has been found guilty of criminal sexual act in the first degree and rape in the third degree.

Mr Weinstein was arrested after handing himself into New York police in May 2018.

The disgraced movie producer was charged with a first and third degree rape in one case and a first degree criminal sex act in a second case.

Weinstein had “unequivocally denied” any allegations of rape.

At the time, CNN reported that Weinstein handed himself into New York police.

He appeared at the New York police precinct office alongside his lawyers carrying a stack of books.

Dozens of women have accused Weinstein of rape, sexual assault, and sexual misconduct, including Rose McGowan, Angelina Jolie, and Gwyneth Paltrow.

This eventually led to a number of other powerful men in Hollywood and elsewhere facing similar accusations.

At the time of his arrest, the NYPD thanked the “brave survivors for their courage to come forward.”

They released a full statement, saying:

“Today, at the NYPD’s 1st Precinct, Harvey Weinstein was arrested, processed and charged with Rape, Criminal Sex Act, Sex Abuse and Sexual Misconduct for incidents involving two separate women.

“The NYPD thanks these brave survivors for their courage to come forward and seek justice.  The arrest and ensuing charges are the result of a joint investigation between the NYPD and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.”
