Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 23 years in prison.

On February 24, Weinstein was found guilty of a criminal sexual act in the first degree and rape in the third degree and today, he arrived to a Manhattan courthouse to receive his sentencing.

He was sentenced to twenty years for a first-degree criminal sex act forcing oral sex on a woman and three years for third-degree rape of a woman – these sentences will run consecutively.

According to CBS News, he will also receive five years of post-release supervision and will be required to register as a sex offender.

His court conviction and subsequent sentencing is a landmark moment in the #MeToo Movement which although originally founded in 2006, gained major prominence in 2017 when a number of high-profile celebrities came forward to share how they were subjected to sexual harassment during their careers.

Other recognisable Hollywood names accused of sexual misconduct during this time were Kevin Spacey, Louis CK, Aziz Ansari, Ben Affleck, James Franco, and Michael Douglas.
