weather warning for seven counties

Predictions of freezing cold weather this weekend were scoffed at but given the latest forecast, snow is imminent.

An orange weather warning has been issued by Met Éireann for the following counties – Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath and Waterford.

While tomorrow doesn’t appear to be impacted, this warning kicks in at 3 am on Sunday morning, lasting until 12 pm on Sunday afternoon.

The national forecaster explains that these seven counties can expect:

“Scattered heavy snow showers will lead to accumulations in places and some drifting”.

A Garda statement has also been issued on the matter encouraging people to be vigilant this weekend.

“Please be conscious of local conditions & take appropriate precautions”.

An orange warning is one step down from a red warning and says that people should be prepared for the predicted conditions.

As Met Éireann says:

“The issue of an Orange level weather warning implies that all recipients in the affected areas should prepare themselves in an appropriate way for the anticipated conditions”.
