Here’s how the weather is looking for St Patrick’s Day

Laura Holland

This might affect your Paddy’s Day plans.

It’s been quite balmy lately but it looks like we could see rain at the weekend. Although it will start out dry, it won’t last with wet conditions moving from northwest to the southeast.

Saturday will begin quite wet but there will be some sunny spells in the south and southeast.

The forecast from Met Eireann for St Patrick’s Day and the weekend is as follows:

“On Friday, St. Patrick’s Day, it will be a cool start. Although dry to begin away from the northwest coast, rain there will extend steadily southeastwards during the course of the day.

Winds will be moderate southwest, increasing fresh during the day and outbreaks of rain will be heavy in western and northern areas. Afternoon temperatures will be between 9 and 11 degrees.

There’ll be further rain on Saturday but there will be dry periods also, the best of any dry weather in the south and in the southeast of the country.

The moderate to fresh southwest winds will continue through the weekend and into the early days of next week as the weather looks set to remain unsettled with further rain or showers at times.”
