It will be a historic day in Croke Park on September 28th as, for the first time ever, the referees for all three TG4 All-Ireland ladies football finals will be female.

Cavan will be represented twice on the day, with local Maggie Farrelly due to be the woman with the whistle for the senior All-Ireland final between Cork and Dublin. Maggie previously refereed the 2007 All-Ireland junior final between Kilkenny and London and this will be the first time she will take the helm at senior level.

Meanwhile, fellow Cavan lady Yvonne Duffy will referee the junior final, which will see New York and Wexford go head-to-head.  Yvonne is no stranger to All-Ireland finals either, having refereed the junior final in 2011.

Mags Doherty from Wexford will oversee the Down and Fermanagh intermediate final. She too has All-Ireland refereeing experience, having refereed the 2011 junior final replay between New York.

“We are delighted that, for the first time, all three referees in the TG4 All Ireland Finals are female,” said LGFA President Pat Quill.

“All three referees have been chosen on merit and all three have been operating at the very highest level of the game for the past number of years,” he added.

The triple-header at Croke Park gets underway on Sunday, September 28th, starting with the junior final at 11.45am , followed by the intermediate final at 1.45pm, and the senior final will take place at 4pm.

Tickets for all three games are available through www.tickets.ie and www.ladiesgaelic.ie. Tickets cost €25 for adults, €10 for students/senior citizens & €8 for Under 16’s.
