Following her departure from This Morning in October 2023, Holly Willoughby is now set to host Strictly Come Dancing.
It’s believed that Willoughby is poised to make a dramatic return to our TV screens, more than two years after she stepped down from ITV’s This Morning.
Back then, she became a victim of a murder plot. Gavin Plumb, the man behind the conspiracy, was jailed for life in July.
Former director of the BBC, Peter Fincham, believes Holly will replace either Tess Daly or Claudia Winkleman, who announced they were leaving Strictly after more than two decades hosting the beloved programme.
Mr Fincham, who since managed ITV between 2008 and 2016, said: "My hairdresser also cuts the hair of a well-known channel controller. What’s said in Harry’s the hairdresser stays in Harry’s. But he says with great confidence that Holly Willoughby will take over," per The Mirror.
Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly announced their departure from the show in a video statement on Daly's Instagram in which the pair appeared.
The full statement read: "We have loved working as a duo, and hosting Strictly has been an absolute dream.
"We were always going to leave together, and now feels like the right time.
"We will have the greatest rest of this amazing series, and we just want to say an enormous thank you to the BBC and to every single person who works on the show. They’re the most brilliant team, and we’ll miss them every day.
"We will cry when we say the last 'keep dancing', but we will continue to say it to each other. Just possibly in tracksuit bottoms at home while holding some pizza."
