Australian actress, Alea O'Shea, has revealed that she has been diagnosed with brain cancer.
The former Home and Away star, who played Darcy Callahan on the show, shared the news to her 300,000 followers on social media.
The 25-year-old explained: "This is a vide I obviously thought I'd never have to make, but I've recently been diagnosed with brain cancer.
"Saying that like, a hook, is insane. It's been a crazy few weeks."
Alea explained that she'd had a biopsy on her birthday and was waiting for the results since.
"Now that I finally have some clarity," she said. "I just want to share what's going on."
She said: "I'm choosing to be open and honest about this online, because I want to live my life as normally as possible while I'm fighting this. I noticed that my smile was a little uneven, and it felt harder to talk [and] get my words out.
"I had a few migraines, but nothing scary."
She added that things changed when she was in the United States recently.
She said: "While I was in LA, I lose the feeling in two of my fingers, which then crept up into my wrist and then my toe."
Alea believed it was something minor, such as a trapped nerve, so went to her physiotherapist to get it looked at.
She said: "He immediately realised it was beyond his scope and sent me to get a brain scan. And that's how we found it."
The actress is now urging others to back themselves when they feel off.
She said: "When something feels off even slightly, pay attention to it and find the right professionals who will take you seriously."
Alea has undergone surgery and could face some complications such as losing her hair and potential paralysis down the left side of her body.
She said: "In the coming months, I might be doing videos one handed. I might disappear when I need to, but mostly, I'm going to be showing up as me every single day that I can."
