Giving the people what they want, it seems…

Did you stay in on Friday? The chances are, a lot of people did stay in on Friday due to the fact that it was Good Friday and there were no pints to be had around the country.

As usual, The Late Late Show was there to pass the night for you, that is, if you had an interest in hearing country music… and lots of it.

Friday’s show was a country music special with artists from around the country and beyond appearing and performing for the Late Late audience.

Friday’s jam packed programme featured country music star Charley Pride along with a host of talent in the country music scene including Charlie Landsborough, Daniel O’Donnell, Nathan Carter, TR Dallas, Brendan Shine, Philomena Begley and Susan McCann.

The Late Late Show Country Special proved a massive hit with audiences, with an average of 677,400 people tuning in and an audience share of 52%, making it the second highest rating show this season.

Speaking about the show, host Ryan Tubridy said: “We had tremendous fun on Friday night. The great and the good of Irish country joined us in studio for a very special night of music and chat.

“It’s great that the folks at home enjoyed it in such big numbers. We look forward to celebrating the strength of country music in Ireland again next year.”
