He brought love and joy to households worldwide playing much loved Santa Claus, but now John Moore has died aged 86.
The actor is best-known for his role as Santa Claus in the festive Coca-Cola ads. In his time off from Father Christmas, Mr. Moore worked as a taxi driver and barman.
Speaking to the
Financial Times in 2011, Mr. Moore shared his memories of working as everyone’s favourite friend during each Christmas period:
“There are lots of things you need to watch out for, you can’t automatically assume the adults with the child are their parent.
“You must never assume a kid has both parents, I’ve had eight-year-olds whispering that they’d like mummy to come home for Christmas.
“It’s good to talk to other people to find out how they deal with these things.”
The actor died surrounded by family in his home in West Sussex.
