This International Women’s Day poem is one to share with your sistas

Katie Mythen-Lynch

As thousands line the streets to take a stand for women and protest Ireland’s strict abortion laws, it’s never been clearer that this country is ready for the next chapter.

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is #BeBoldForChange – and you are.

The Her team is on the ground amid the chanting masses right now and we are broadcasting Ireland’s message across the world.

Whether you’re somewhere in the crowd beside us, planning to march this evening or supporting the cause in spirit, you are part of something important.

As we continue our coverage of the #StrikeForRepeal demonstration (catch us live on Facebook and see Twitter for updates), we thought this verse, sent to us by Her reader Brigid O’Dea was worth sharing;

“To the ladies making babies
And the ladies making money
The queen bees taking power
Soothing stings with soulful honey

To the hunz with the hairy knees
And galz with HD brows
Raising voices, making choices
Performing without bows

To the women misbehaving
Creating colour in the dust
Here’s to whispering, shouting, singing
And stomping when we’re hushed!”
