Investigation launched into alleged rape of woman in Dublin city centre

An investigation has been launched into the alleged rape of a woman in Dublin city centre.

The woman reported the alleged attack this morning at a south Dublin Garda station. It is alleged to have happened between midnight and 2am over the weekend.

RTE reports that the woman is believed to have been socialising with friends in the city centre before going to a hotel.

She was taken to the Sexual Assault Treatment unit at the Rotunda Hospital after reporting the incident.

The investigation has been taken over by Gardaí in Pearse Street Garda station.

No arrests have been made.
