The UK and Ireland's first female bishop has been ordained by the Church of Ireland.
Reverend Pat Storey was consecrated as the Bishop of Meath and Kildare at a special ceremony in Christ Church Cathedral last Sunday.
Storey, who is a married mother of two, is one of a handful of female bishops in the worldwide Anglican community. Her husband, Earl, is also a member of the clergy.
The 53-year-old grew up in Belfast and studied in Trinity College before training at the Church of Ireland Theological College.
She was ordained a deacon back in 1997.
"Pat, it has been our privilege over the years to see you respond to our Father's love with love, trust and obedience," said Reverend Nigel Parker on the day.
“You have given yourself whole-heartedly to Him and His Church, serving His people as a deacon and priest — teaching the Scriptures and pastoring with that disarming directness, which is your hallmark — a directness, which speaks the truth in love, with a ready laugh and delightful sense of humour."
The service was led by Archbishop Michael Jackson, and was attended by representatives of President Michael D. Higgins and the Taoiseach.
