Irish beauty blogger reveals her toddler son’s heartbreaking cancer diagnosis

An Irish beauty blogger has shared that her toddler son has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Dublin mum Yavanna Keogh, who runs the beauty blog MakeupMonster, posted the heartbreaking news on social media on Tuesday.

Three-and-a-half-year-old son Oscar was diagnosed this month with Diffuse Inartistic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a rare and aggressive brain tumour that, sadly, has no known cure.

Yavanna and her partner Lar set up a GoFundMe page to give their little boy “the time of his life, for however long that is.”

The fundraising page reads:

“In January 2018 our magical 3 1/2 year old son Oscar was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a rare brain tumour that has no known cure.

“Due to the location of the tumour and the fact it grows amidst the nerves, it is inoperable.

“There is a less than 1% chance of survival and 90% of children diagnosed will die within 18 months.

“A biopsy has shown that Oscar’s is the most aggressive type so his prognosis is not good.

“Experimental treatment isn’t an option for Oscar.

“We were told by the experts anything that had any real results would of course be offered to us but as of now, the only thing that works is radiation and only for a time.”

The post on the GoFundMe page goes on to explain that they are trying to provide “trips away and days out and ice creams and toys and anything else that will help bring a little magic and joy to him.”

The post continued:

“We will also be donating money from it to cancer research and charities in Ireland.

“We aren’t going to ask you to dig deep, if you have something to spare and want to give it we would be hugely grateful, but we would be just as grateful for your hopes and kind thoughts for Oscar.”
