Irish father and son killed in moped accident were ‘carrying out final errand’

The father and son died after a bus collided with their moped on Monday.

A father and son killed in a moped accident in Turkey were carrying out a final errand on the last day of their trip. Eoin Fitzpatrick and his 10-year-old son Dylan sadly passed away following the accident on Monday.

According to reports, the father and son were set to come home on the day of the accident.

Sinn Féin TD Brian Stanley said locals are devastated following the accident.

He told The Irish Mail, “It looks like they were carrying out a final errand before making their way to the airport when the crash happened.”

“My heartfelt sympathies go to the mother of the boy and also to the parents of the deceased man and the grandparents on both sides,” he added.

He said the community in Portlaoise will “rally around” the family during this harrowing time.

The father and son were travelling on a moped when it collided with a bus in Turkey. The incident reportedly took place shortly after 3.30 pm local time on Monday, July 17th.

They were also on holiday with the dad’s teenage son Cian, who was not injured in the accident.

It is believed the boy’s mother is travelling to Turkey. He is reportedly being cared for by his dad’s partner.
