Ahead of the fourth anniversary of Ashling Murphy's death, the Irish public has been invited to honour the beloved teacher.
Ashling's family has organised a commemorative walk in her honour. The walk will take place in her hometown of Tullamore on Monday, January 12th.
The Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund confirmed that the walk will start at Digby Bridge Carpark, Cappincur, and continue to Ashling’s Memorial Shrine, Grand Canal, Tullamore.
They shared, "Ashling will be remembered in her hometown of Tullamore with a commemorative walk, retracing her final steps along the Grand Canal, to her Memorial Shrine on Monday, 12th January at 3 pm. All are welcome."
They added, "Individuals, clubs, communities and organisations are invited to join us in remembering Ashling by participating with their own walk, run, or organised event on her anniversary, Monday, January 12th or at a day that suits."
The Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund was set up in November 2022. The memorial fund honours Ashling by fulfilling her legacy through the memorial fund's objectives.
Her family shared, "Ashling touched the hearts and minds of many people during her very short life and even after her sudden and tragic departure from us on the 12th of January, 2022."
Ashling was murdered by Jozef Puska when she was out jogging in her hometown of Tullamore, Co. Offaly, on January 12th, 2022.
Her killer, Jozef Puska, was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of her murder in November 2023.
Ashling Murphy was only 24 years old at the time of her untimely death.
She will never be forgotten.
