An Irish woman who was found dead in her home in Northern Ireland may have passed away over two years ago.

The 68-year-old woman was discovered on October 6 by police in West Belfast after concerns were raised to authorities about her well-being.

The woman has been named as Marie Conlon.

Her death is being treated as suspicious.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Dickson said that the postmortem suggests that Conlon died sometime around January 2015.

She was last seen around that time.

In a statement, detective Dickson said:

“Officers forced entry to her Larkspur Rise home and discovered her deceased in bed. It was apparent that she had lain undiscovered for some time.”

Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the death.

He is being held on suspicion of multiple offences including murder.
