Women – we know we’re great, right? We can multitask, do the school run, kick ass in the boardroom and look absolutely fabulous while we’re doing it all.
Ladies, let’s be honest: we already know we’re great, but now we have some news that confirms that belief.
The Irish Daily Mail reports that for the first time ever, it has been established that when it comes to smarts, we have more than the less-fairer sex. Yes, women are officially smarter than their male counterparts (as if we needed research to tell us that though, in fairness).
Psychologists have found that when it comes to IQ testing, women’s scores have risen above men’s scores for the first time in years.
Since IQ testing began over a century ago, we’ve always been slightly behind the men. This has caused psychologists to believe that when it comes to intelligence, there are genetic differences between the sexes. But, the gap has been getting smaller and smaller in recent years and finally we’ve surpassed the men.
“This is a consequence of modernity. The complexity of the modern world is making our brains adapt and raising our IQ,” said James Flynn, a world-renowned expert on IQ testing.
“The full effect of modernity on women is only just emerging,” he added.
Some experts believe that the reason why our IQ is rising is down to the fact that in recent years, women’s lives have become much more complex. We have to deal with a lot of things on a daily basis – careers, raising families, paying attention to relationships and getting our shop on.
Meanwhile, other experts think that women have always been smarter and have a higher potential for intelligence than men. They believe that it is only now that we are starting to realise how great our own intelligence is.
So what do you think? Is there any truth in this? Do you think you could outsmart your other half in a battle of wits?
