Add us as a preferred source on Google »Jimmy Fallon has been facing backlash on social media for allowing Conor McGregor to appear on his talk show. The host has been branded ‘spineless’ and ‘pathetic' for inviting the Irish UFC fighter for an interview last night.
Fallon has hosted The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon since 2014.
After clips of the interview circulated online, social media users were quick to shame the host for giving McGregor 'a platform.'
This is due to McGregor having previously been found liable in a civil case for the rape of a Nikita Hand in 2018.
She was awarded €248,603 in damages following the jury’s ruling which saw McGregor liable for rape and assault, with paramedics stating that they had not seen ‘someone so bruised’ in a long time.
X (previously Twitter) users, commented on Fallon's decision to host McGregor on the show, and questioned the fact that he did not mention aspect of the case.
"This is disgusting. Shame on @jimmyfallon," one account stated.
"Jimmy Fallon, you and your team are an utter disgrace. There is absolutely no way you don’t know what Conor was found liable for in civil court," another added.
"Jimmy, Conor was found civilly liable for rape; he appealed and lost. That’s enough to make him persona ingrata. Jimmy, you are now abating and abetting after the fact. Same for the network," said another user on X.
"You’re a disgrace @jimmyfallon have this disgusting man on your show. You have daughters. Shame on you," another chimed in.
Fallon shares both an 11-year-old and a 12-year-old with his wife, Nancy Juvonen.
McGregor's appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon comes after an announcement that he will be returning for his first fight since 2021.
