Joan Rivers "Resting Comfortably" In Medically Induced Coma

Joan Rivers was rushed to hospital yesterday after she stopped breathing during a routine surgery.

According to reports, doctors have placed her in a medically induced coma which they plan to bring her out of at the weekend.

Her daughter Melissa released a statement to Us Weekly which read: I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother," the statement read. "She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers."

81-year-old Joan reportedly stopped breathing during a throat procedure at a New York clinic. The Fashion Police host was immediately rushed to Mount Sinai hospital in the city.

The day prior to her surgery, Joan performed at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. "She seemed absolutely fine," a source told Us Weekly. "She was cracking jokes all night. She was in really good spirits."
