Joe Biden is to reportedly announce his 2020 presidential run

He's be better than Trump.

Joe Biden is close to announcing his presidential run, according to American media.

The former vice-president is understood to have sounded out allies within the Democratic party in the build up to this week.

Biden is "closer than he ever was in 2016" to making a go of securing the top table in the White House and "serious in his discussions with potential supporters," Axios reports. The American political publisher says Biden has knowingly told Democrat mates "If I'm walking, I'm running."

Biden's younger brother Frank also believes Joe will run, as do some of his close advisers.

Donald Trump said he wasn’t worried in an interview with Fox News.

He said: "A lot of people say Biden is doing OK, but you know, he was always a 1-percenter.

"He ran two or three times, he never got above 1 percent. And then [Barack] Obama came along and took him off the trash heap, and he became a vice president, and now he’s leading."
