Has Kate Middleton been banned from the Baftas?

She’s the down-to-earth duchess who gives us major #hairgoals almost daily, but it seems Kate Middleton’s legions of adoring fans almost cost her a ticket to the Bafta Awards.

According to industry insiders, there’s been a bit of a kerfuffle behind the scenes ahead of the 70th British Academy Film Awards on February 12.

Apparently, organisers of the glitzy awards ceremony extended an invitation to Bafta President Prince William and his wife, despite the reservations of some senior staff that Kate might detract attention from the other starlets and nominees on the red carpet.

Fans had hoped to see the couple at the event because Wills has controversially missed the big night for two years in a row. Now however, the fact that his decision to attend this year alongside his wife has been called into question has become a major source of embarrassment for the organisation.

Denying the claims, a Bafta spokesperson told The Sun: “It is completely untrue that Bafta has suggested that our president attend on his own. We would be delighted to welcome Their Royal Highnesses any year they are able to attend.”

Bafta chief executive Amanda Berry is understood to be working to resolve any misunderstanding, while Kensington Palace have yet to comment on behalf of the Duke and Duchess.

For our sake, we hope they get all this cleared up before the big night. The red carpet is the most important part of the awards ceremony.
