Katie Taylor has officially qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games.
The Dublin fighter will have to defend her Olympic title this Summer as she is set for Rio, Brazil.
In Astana, Kazakhstan today, the lightweight boxer beat Mexico’s Victoria Torres to secure her place in the semi-finals of the Women’s World Boxing Championships.
The London 2012 gold medallist is now guaranteed at least a bronze medal in the Championships, and it ensures that she will take one of the four Olympic places that are up for grabs this week.
The Bray woman tweeted about her gratitude to her fans and supporters after her 3:0 win.
Honored to be representing Ireland in another Olympics. It really is a dream come true. The support from everyone has been incredible!
