Hollywood star Kevin Spacey has issued an apology statement after being accused of making a sexual advance toward a child actor.
Anthony Rapp, who is 46 now but 14 years of age at the time, said Spacey invited him to a party and seemed drunk when the alleged incident happened in New York in 1986.
Rapp alleges that Spacey, then 26, invited him and a 17-year-old friend to a nightclub, and then to a party at the actor's apartment. As Rapp recounts in an interview with
BuzzFeed:
"He picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold. But I don’t, like, squirm away initially, because I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ And then he lays down on top of me."
"As I opened the door to leave, he was leaning on the front door[frame]. And he was like, ‘Are you sure you wanna go?’ I said, ‘Yes, good night,’ and then I did leave."
Spacey has since issued a statement addressing the allegations and apologising to Rapp.
He also used it to address some long-running rumours about his sexuality, revealing that he now chooses "to live as a gay man".
