The creator behind Marvel Comics, Stan Lee has passed away at the age of 95.

According to the legendary creator’s daughter, J.C., an ambulance rushed to his Hollywood Hills home on Monday, taking him to the hospital where he then died.

“He felt an obligation to his fans to keep creating. He loved his life and he loved what he did for a living. His family loved him and his fans loved him. He was irreplaceable. My father loved all of his fans. He was the greatest, most decent man” said his daughter in a statement this evening.

According to The Telegraph, the 95-year-old had a final few troubled years after his wife of 69 years passed away – this left a void in his life which resulted in trouble between friends, lawyers and advisers.

Lee was a co-creator of Marvel, which saw him begin by creating the Fantastic Four and then continuing on to create many Marvel characters including Spider-Man, Thor, The Hulk and X-Men.

He will be greatly missed.
