Lend A Hand – Four Great Irish Causes To Get Behind This Week

Some great charities to show some support this week.

Her

Every week in the Her.ie offices we are inundated with requests from people asking us to help them promote their charity events. While every cause is worthwhile, unfortunately we can’t get around to all of them and so for that reason, we have decided to put together some of these events from around the country. Every week, we will feature five events you should get behind or get involved with over the next few months. There are tonnes of amazing organisations in this country, let’s help them out.

1. Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal

This year’s Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal is aiming to deliver 200,000 shoeboxes full of goodies to needy children from Africa to Eastern Europe. The shoeboxes will be packed individually by Irish families, schools, communities and businesses to help turn what will otherwise be just another day into something special for these children.

For anyone who wants to get wrapping a shoebox, people are asked to fill it with gifts for a child, attach €4 and bring it to one of the 300 drop-off points before November 10th. Suggestions for what can be put in the shoeboxes include pens, pencils, colouring books, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, a small item of clothing and a surprise or treat!

Featuring CanTeen Ireland members from across Ireland who have or are currently going through cancer treatment, the DVD includes interviews, chats and stories by members on their personal experiences and how CanTeen has been there to help. The DVD is a guide to teenage cancer that aims to show how the right support can make a world of difference to a teenager who might be feeling upset and alone.
