Lidl has announced the addition of 100 new jobs in Kildare today.

The supermarket giant will be opening a new distribution centre on the Naas Road in Newbridge, Co Kildare and is looking for 100 new employees to work at the centre.

Lidl first arrived on Irish shores in 2000 and since has seen incredible expansion – with 150 stores across Ireland and plans for 50 more in the next five years.

The distribution centre will overall have a workforce of 350 staff with 100 of these being newly employed staff. The plans for the centre are already in motion and when finished it is expected to be 54,000 square metres.

Construction work is to begin this April and Alan Barry, director of property at Lidl released this statement thanking locals for their ongoing support and patience:

“We would like to sincerely thank all the local community and residents for their positive engagement throughout the planning process and will provide regular updates to the local community throughout the construction process.”

This will be a fantastic addition to the area and locals looking for employment.
