Lidl issue statement about scam doing the rounds on the run up to Christmas

The supermarket issued a statement on Twitter this evening.

Lidl took to social media tonight to inform its customers of a scam taking place around the country.

The scam, which involves a text message, has been catching customers out this week.

The food retailer said: “Please do not open any texts that appear to have been sent by Lidl. As a company we don’t communicate any offers or information to customers via text so anything received via text message is most definitely a scam.

“The only offers and competitions we run can be found on our verified social media channels, our app and website. If you have any concerns regarding suspicious texts which claim to be sent from Lidl, please call our Customer Service team on 1800 201080.”

The texts in question is offering promotions if you submit details. If you receive anything suspicious, delete immediately.
