The Competition and Consumer Protection website issued the update from the supermarket and said:
"Lidl Ireland are initiating a public recall for a Unielektra Smoke Detector that was sold through Lidl retail outlets during 2016 and 2017. The risk associated with this product is that it does not alarm in a loud enough fashion or a timely manner in the event of a fire."They added:
"As a precautionary measure Lidl are asking consumers not to use the affected smoke detector. The item can be returned in all Lidl Stores where a full refund will be given, even without proof of purchase."
