There are few streets in the world that are as busy as Oxford Street.
The shopping street in London is somewhat of an obstacle course thanks to the floods of pedestrians passing through every day.
Yes, it can be a challenge getting from one end to the other, nevermind trying to cross the road.
Well, if London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan has anything to do about it, we won’t have to worry about that for much longer.
The Mayor is hoping to transform London’s main high street into a “traffic-free pedestrian boulevard” and shared pictures of the plans on social media today.
The illustrations show the street bustling with pedestrians, although visibly less compressed than currently thanks to the increased space.
The Mayor is hoping to transform the road into a colourful walkway, surrounded by trees and benches by the end of 2018.
“Next year an iconic part of Oxford Street could be transformed into a pedestrian boulevard,” read the caption on the pictures posted on Twitter earlier.
