Looks like we could be getting a white Christmas after all (…maybe)

Yes! Or no! Depends on how you feel about it.

It looks like we could indeed be in for a white Christmas this year, according to some experts who are refusing to rule out the possibility of snow next week.

The festive season has already been plagued by social distancing, grounded flights home, and the dreaded Christmas shopping, and now it appears as though some parts of the country may have to deal with snow as well. Cool. Cool cool coool cool coooool.

According to iconic Donegal postman Michael Gallagher, Ireland is in for a “very, very cold” Christmas. He also said that although making a prediction about December 25 specifically is difficult, he’s pretty sure there will be a good bit of the white stuff this festive season.

“That’s just one day, it’s hard to be that exact about it,” he told RSVP Live.

“But I know there will be snow, and it will be close to Christmas Day. It will be there or thereabouts.”

The postman, who worked for An Post for almost 50 years, is best known for his often accurate weather predictions, particularly around Christmastime.

During his time as a postman, Micheal began predicting the weather by observing nature. In 2018, he predicted Ireland’s Big Freeze. That same year he knew in advance about the heatwave we had earlier that summer.

“I go out to the mountains with the dog and look around me and there are some things I’d be looking out for,” he said.

“I like to keep the old traditions alive. The older generation would always use these methods, they relied on them.”

Here’s hoping that Michael isn’t on the money this time. Or that he is. Depends who you ask, really.
