The singer’s mum passed away in 2016.

Louis Tomlinson’s dad has been diagnosed with liver cancer and has undergone surgery to have a tumour removed.

Troy Austin admits that after years of drinking and smoking, he has now given up both since his diagnosis, saying:

“I believe my tumour was down to drinking and smoking.”

“Each day I was smoking up to 25 cigarettes and drinking six to eight cans of lager,” he told The Sun.

“Some days I wouldn’t eat at all but would just drink and smoke.”

After a four-hour operation and with one-and-a-half inches of a tumour removed, Troy is said to be hopeful that the surgery has saved his life.

News of the diagnosis comes just 18 months after Louis’ mum Johannah Deakin died of leukaemia.

The 43-year-old old sadly passed away in December of 2016, only days before Louis was due to perform his new single on the X Factor final.

To honour her memory, the singer took to the stage in what was an incredibly emotional performance.

“It is with immeasurable sadness that Johannah Deakin’s family said goodbye to Johannah in the early hours of Wednesday, December 7,” the family said in a statement at the time.

“Earlier this year Johannah was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukemia that required immediate and continuous treatment.

“Johannah was first and foremost a truly amazing mother to seven children whose individual talents and success are testament to the principles and beliefs she instilled in them.”

Louis’ parents split just a week after he was born and the singer and his father are said to have not spoken in over five years.
