This will be good news for many commuters.

Following Luas strikes and public outcry over the past few months, the Luas drivers have reportedly accepted the Labour Court pay deal today.

The question among the drivers to accept the pay deal was voted by means of a ballot, with the deal accepted by 108 votes to 56.

According to The Irish Times, SIPTU organiser Owen Reidy said the new recommendation is to have

“improved terms in relation to the link between productivity and pay increases…

“that will amount to between 15.6 per cent to 18.3 per cent between now and September 2020.”

Managing director of Transdev Gerry Madden spoke on behalf of the company, saying:

“We are pleased with the outcome of the ballot. This vote by employees in favour of the Labour Court Recommendation is positive news…

“The agreement will allow all of us to concentrate on once again delivering the very best Luas service for our customers and also preparing for the next exciting development in Luas Cross City.”

It’s finally over.
